Athenians beat Falcons

The Crawfordsville girls’ basketball team defeated North Vermillion 55-48 on Tuesday night.

Lauren Kellerman led the Athenians with 19 points, while Megan Simmons added 11.

Crawfordsville improves to 5-16 and concludes the regular season against Sagamore Conference foe Frankfort at 6 p.m. on Friday at home.

Mounties win 7th in a row

The Southmont girls’ basketball tam picked up another win on Tuesday, defeating Covington 46-37.

Belle Miller led the Mounties with 13 points.

Southmont improves to 13-7 and plays at 6 p.m. tonight at Seeger (Williamsport).

Mustangs fall to Wildcats

The Fountain Central girls’ basketball team dropped a Wabash River Conference contest 53-36 to South Vermillion on Tuesday night.

Dakota Borman led the Mustangs with 19 points.

Fountain Central is now 4-16 on the season and hosts Riverton Parke on Thursday.

Swimming

Athenians sweep Bronchos

The Crawfordsville boys’ and girls’ swimming and diving teams swept Lafayette Jeff on Tuesday night in the first ever meet held at the new Jeff Natatorium.

The boys’ won 101-82, while the girls’ won 98-86.

Winners on the girls’ side included Jaiden Barber, Abby Bannon, Halle Smith, and Alyx Bannon with a 2:09.4 swim in the 200 medley relay. The same foursome won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:53.77.

Individual winners included Abby Bannon in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:39.46, while Smith won the 100 butterfly in 1:18.68, and Alyx Bannon won the 100 freestyle in 57.25 seconds. Frannie Fuller won the 100 backstroke in 1:12.03, while Abby Bannon won the 100 breaststroke in 1:19.09.

Trinity Deck won the diving portion with a mark of 197.75.

On the boys’ side, the foursome of Evan Chaney, Hunter Conrad, Cameron Nordenbrock, and Marshall Horton won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:49.7, while Horton, Ben Brown, Thristan Callejas, and Jack Pendleton won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:36.83. Pendleton, Brown, Chaney, and Callejas teamed up for the win in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:34.18.

Individual winners included Callejas in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:55.06, and the 100 butterfly in 57.4. Pendleton won the 50 freestyle in 23.74 seconds, and the 100 freestyle in 52.82 seconds. Chaney won the 100 backstroke in 1:00.19.

Eli Reeves won the diving portion with a mark of 177.3.

From Monday

Mounties set new pool record

The Southmont 200 freestyle relay team of Megan Scheidler, Suzi Pedro, Emma Tyler, and Jane Scheidler set a new school record with a time of 1:43.01 as the Mounties competed against Owen Valley and South Vermillion on Monday night.

The Mountie boys’ defeated the Patriots 59-32, bu fell to the Wildcats 77-24. The girls’ beat Owen Valley 86-15 and South Vermillion 60-42.

The 400 freestyle team of Megan Scheidler, Bailey Barker, Jane Scheidler, and Emma Tyler also won with a time of 4:14.8.

Individual winners on the girls’ side included Megan Scheidler in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:12.76, Emma Tyler in the 200 individual medley in 2:24.47. Aubrey Jones won the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:15.17, while Jane Scheidler won the 100 freestyle in 59.41 seconds. Tyler also won the 500 freestyle in 5:46.57, while Pedro won the 100 breaststroke in 1:22.77.

Jordan Stanley won the diving portion with a mark of 222.8.
