HIGH SCHOOL SCOREBOARD: Mounties second at duals, Mustangs pick up wins


Mounties second at duals

The Southmont wrestling team posted a 4-1 record and finished second at the Mountie Duals on Saturday.

Southmont defeated Pioneer 78-4, Lutheran 45-31m and Lafayette Harrison B 60-17, before beating Warren Central B 53-28 in the semi-finals. The Mounties then fell to Greencastle 54-12 in the finals.

Noah Benge (120) was the lone Mountie to earn a perfect 5-0 day. Kion Cornelius (106), Dillan Lauy (126), Gerald Huston (132), Takeshi Greiner (132), Ty Welliever (170), and Riley Woodall (182) were all 4-1 on the day. Southmont is now 18-3 on the season and travels to Fountain Central on Tuesday.

The Mustangs finished the day 1-4 at Southmont on Saturday.

Fountain Central lost to Speedway 39-33, Greencastle 70-9, Warren Central B 45-28, and Harrison B 54-24. The Mustangs beat Pioneer 42-26.

Athenians struggle at Zionsville tourney

The Crawfordsville wrestling team struggled at the Zionsville Duals on Saturday — posting a 1-3 record. The Athenians fell to Mt. Vernon (Posey) 62-11, Zionsville 72-6, and Zionsville B 42-39. Crawfordsville defeated Elwood 48-30.

Clayton Owens (145) and Kalob Brown (285) both went 3-1 on the day.

Cville falls at Speedway

The Crawfordsville girls’ basketball team dropped a non-conference road game to Speedway 65-47 on Saturday.
Lauren Kellerman led Crawfordsville with 17 points in the loss.
The Athenians fall to 3-13 on the season, and will be back in action on Tuesday at home against Western Boone.

Mustangs get big road win

The Fountain Central girl’s basketball team defeated Georgetown-Ridge Farm (Ill) on Saturday afternoon 56-9. Dakota Borman led the Mustangs with 29 points, while Gracie Foxworthy added 14.

FC gets win over Sheridan

The Fountain Central boys’ basketball team picked up a win over Sheridan 53-45 on Saturday.

The Mustangs overcame a seven-point third quarter deficit, and had three players in double-figures.

Andrew Shabi led the way with 18 points, while Jake Smith chipped in 14, and Carson Eberly 12.
