Mounties fall to Trojans

The Southmont boy’s soccer team dropped a 7-0 match at Covington on Saturday.

Chargers and Mounties compete in invites

The North Montgomery boy’s tennis team hosted their annual invitational on Saturday, dropping matches 5-0 to Parke Heritage, 5-0 to South Vermillion, and 4-1 to Benton Central.

Hunter Kashon and Will McKinniss teamed up for a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles over Kolton Goodman and CY Barce. 

Southmont traveled to the Western Boone invite and went 2-1 on the day with a 5-0 win over Covington and Lawrence Central and a 3-2 defeat against the Stars.

Adam Cox at No. 1 singles, and Trevor McKinney at No. 2 singles both went undefeated on the day.

Conner McVay went 2-1 at No. 3 singles, while the duo of Reese Long and Micah Korhorn went 2-1 at No. 1 doubles. The trio of Carson McKinney, Harrison Haddock, and EJ Brewer went 2-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Mustangs compete in Saber Classic

The Fountain Central cross country teams competed at the Saber Corn Classic over the weekend.

Kenna Bible was the top girl’s finisher with a 60th place finish, while Courtney Sims was 61st, Tyler Bowling 62, Nadya Rahm-Bradford 63rd, Cassidy Norman 69th, and Katie Hurt 72nd.

In the boy’s race, Carson Pietrzak finished 31st, while Kyle Mellady was 56th, and Justin Butts 58th. Jacob Rice was 67th, Dan Adams 70th, and Nathan Solomon 73rd.

Chargers at BC Invite

North Montgomery competed in the Benton Central volleyball Invite on Saturday, defeating Faith Christian 2-1, and falling to the Bison 2-0.

Emily Sennett led the Chargers with nine kills in the win over the Eagles, while Madi Welch and Khloey Surface each had seven digs, and Haley Burton eight. 

Mounties win CHS volleyball Invite

Southmont won the Crawfordsville Invitational on Saturday with a 2-0 (25-12, 25-14) win over Delphi and 2-1 (21-25, 25-17, 16-14) win over Crawfordsville.

For the day, Lexi Nelson had 29 kills, while Chelsea Veatch had 10 digs, Natalie Manion 14, Kaley Remley 12, and Nelson 12. Sidney Veatch had 37 assists. Remley also had 10 aces.

The Athenians defeated Delphi 2-0 (25-15, 25-15). 

Laine Schlicher had 14 assists on the day, while Olivia Reed had 19 digs, and Alyx Bannon six blocks.

Macy Bruton had 14 kills and four aces. Abby Bannon added six kills.
