Scramble

The men’s senior league gathered for their weekly scramble at Crawfordsville Municipal Golf Course on Friday. 

The team of Froedge, Manlove, Plant, Welliever, Abbott, and Harris won with a low-score of -7 (under par). Martin, Pyle, VanScoyoc, Wright, Fumia, and McDowell was second at -6 (under par), while Wilson, Shelton, Phelps, Snyder, Stephens, and Michael were third at -5 (under par). VanScoyoc won the proxy on No. 6 and Bruce Dennison on No. 14.

Mounties split at North White

The Southmont boys and girls soccer teams traveled to North White on Saturday.

The girls picked up a 6-1 win behind a hat trick from Lexie Odum. Hanna Nichols, Emalie Ayers, and Elle Gray added goals. Nichols, and Marissa Craig each had a pair of assists.

“We played a great game today, and I’m very happy with how well everyone on the team played today,” Southmont coach Phillip Keller said. “We are getting better and playing well more consistently. I couldn’t be more pleased with the teams hard work.”

The boys fell 9-2, with goals coming from Beckett Jett and Conner Osborn.

Athenians fall to Bruins on pitch

The Crawfordsville boy’s soccer team dropped a 4-1 Sagamore Conference loss to Tri-West on Saturday.

Mustangs all in action on courts

The Crawfordsville boy’s tennis team hosted the Macy Invitational on Saturday.

At No. 1 singles Austin Motz placed seventh with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Trent Ross of Greencastle.

In the No. 2 slot Thatcher Gambrel picked up a win over Edgewood’s Josiah Hinson 6-1, 6-2 and placed fourth. At No. 2 singles Owen Bennett and Zach Fichter placed sixth by picking up a 4-6, 6-4, 10-5, Zeke Weisner and Nicholas McBride of Edgewood. At No. 2 doubles Austin Heeke and Ziair Morgan placed sixth after a 6-3, 6-4 win over Rensselaer’s Caleb Oliver and Cassius Pulver.

Fountain Central won their own invitational over West Vigo, Kankakee Valley, and South Putnam. Carson Eberly at No. 1 singles, Cody Linville at No. 2 singles, and Jacob Keeling and Denton Otero at No. 1 doubles, and Sawyer Keeling and CJ Yager at No. 2 doubles all went 2-0, while Brent Myers went 1-1 at No. 3 singles.

North Montgomery competed at the McCutcheon Invite, dropping 5-0 matches to McCutcheon, Twin Lakes, and Western.

Athenians and Mustangs compete at Harrison Invite

Crawfordsville and Fountain Central’s cross country teams competed in the 26-team Harrison Invite over the weekend.

Crawfordsville’s boys top finisher was Drake Hayes, placing 36th with a time of 16:50, while Fountain Central’s was Carson Pietrzak with a 127th place finish in 18:39. 

Madison Fry paced the Athenian’s girls with a time of 19:22 and a 13th place finish, while Nadya Rahm was 162nd in 24:11

Chargers compete at state course

The North Montgomery cross country teams compete at the LaVern Gibson state championship course in Terre Haute on Saturday.

In the girl’s race Claire Bonwell paced the Chargers with a 27th place finish in 23:51, while Elijah McCartney was 38th in 19:29 in the boy’s race.

Mounties drop SAC match to Stars

The Southmont volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (25-17, 17-25, 26-24, 25-17) match at Western Boone on Saturday.
