SWIMMING AND DIVING

The Southmont boys’ and girls’ swimming and diving teams split with Greencastle on Thursday night. The girls defeated the Tiger Cubs 113-73, while the boys fell 95-73.

On the girls side, the foursome of Sydney Pribble, Suzi Pedro, Aubrey Jones, and Bailey Barker won the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:17.48, while Pedro teamed up with Emma Tyler, and Megan and Jane Scheidler to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:48.99. Tyler, Barker and both Megan and Jane Scheidler gave the Mounties the win in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 4:03.75.

Individually, Megan Scheidler won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:11.89, while Tyler won the 200 individual medley in 2:23.85, and the 100 butterfly in 1:06.47. Scheidler also won the 500 freestyle in 5:52.97, while Pedro won the 100 breaststroke in 1:23.66.

Jordan Stanley also re-broke her own record in the diving portion for a second time this week. The sophomore recorded a mark of 239.55.

On the boys side, John Zimmerman won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:23.98, while Trent Jones won the 100 butterfly in 1:00.75. Gavin Waddell won the 500 freestyle in 5:48.23, while Zimmerman also won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:11.29.

Chargers swept by Bruins

The North Montgomery boys’ and girls’ swimming and diving teams were swept by Sagamore Conference foe Tri-West on Thursday. The boys fell 148-27, while the girls lost 110-66.

The foursome of Madelynn Mershon, Brianna Coffing, Maggie Michael, and Sidney Campbell won the 400 freestyle with a time of 4:23.16.

Michael also picked up a win in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:18.45, while Campbell won the 200 individual medley in 2:31.98, and Kelsey Anderson won the 50 freestyle in 28.97 seconds, and the 100 freestyle in 1:03.55.

Stevie Gunderman won the boys’ diving portion with an effort of 163.5.

Mustangs split with Patriots

The Fountain Central boys’ and girls’ swimming and diving teams split with Seeger on Thursday. The boys won 114-50, while the girls fell 119-61.

The foursome of Noah Fruits, Kyle Mellady, Ethan Mellady, and Chase Witsman won the boys 200 medley relay in a time of 1:55.02, while Aidan Shumaker swam to a win in the 200 individual medley in 2:29.78, and the 100 butterfly in 57.73 seconds. Kyle Mellady also won the 50 freestyle in 23.25 seconds, and Micah Trusty won the 100 freestyle in 54.59 seconds. Fruits also won the 500 freestyle in 6:12.58.

The relay team of Shumaker, Kyle Mellady, Riley Nelson, and Witsman won the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 1:36.5. Ethan Mellady won the 100 backstroke, while Kyle won the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.00.

Nelson, Fruits, Trusty, and Shumaker won the 400 freestyle relay with an effort of 4:23.68.

On the girls side, Tyler Bowling won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:24.85, and the 500 freestyle in 6:18.23, while Paityn Krout won the 100 butterfly in 1:11.85.

WRESTLING

Athenians tackle Patriots

The Crawfordsville wrestling team went on the road and picked up another win Thursday night, defeating Seeger 48-22.

Eric Demoret picked up a fall over Koree Mitton at 106, while Keegan Alsman pinned Cody Waling at 113.

At 138, Richard Pan pinned Jessiah Humphrey, while Clayton Owens picked up a 9-3 decision win over Garrett Watkins at 145. At 152, Edwin Gil Herrera pinned Gage Carmona. Ethan Patton also picked up a win for the Athenians at 182, while Tyeson Hendon pinned Hayden Eller at 195, and Kalob Brown defeated Cade Walker 4-1 at heavyweight.

“I was real pleased with the kids,” Crawfordsville coach Chris Ervin said. “Our kids have really accepted the challenge to get a little bit better everyday, and it’s working out. It’s been a fun team to coach, and they are showing a lot of improvement.”


Mustangs fall on mat to Trojans

The Fountain Central wrestling team lost to Covington 42-39 on Thursday.

At 138, Pickett defeated Williamson 6-2, while Groff beat Friez by fall at 145. Lawhorn also picked up a win at 160 over Gaskill by fall.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Mustangs fall to Falcons

The Fountain Central girls’ basketball team fell to Wabash River Conference foe North Vermillion 53-33 on Thursday night.

Dakota Borman led the Mustangs with 12 points.
