Club to discuss ‘The Life List of Adrian Mandrick’

Posted

The Hoosier Authors Book Club continues its seventh year with virtual meetings. The General Lew Wallace Study & Museum’s book club will discuss Chris White’s book “The Life List of Adrian Mandrick” at 7 p.m. May 19 via a Zoom meeting. Books are currently available for checkout at the Carriage House.

White’s novel was a 2020 Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Award Winner. White is a professor of English and Director of the Film Studies program at DePauw University. Her plays have been performed on numerous stages throughout the United States and the world.

The book centers on Adrian Mandrick, a successful doctor and family man. A passionate birder, Adrian has the third longest life list of species spotted in North America. When his estranged mother renews contact with him, Adrian spirals into addiction and pursues a sighting of the rare, believed extinct Ivory-billed Woodpecker.

Library Journal gave the book a starred review, writing, “This engaging, unusual novel successfully combines the best elements of a psychological portrait, a travel adventure, and a suspenseful mystery.”

Copies of the book are courtesy of the Indiana Humanities Novel Conversations program. All discussions are free and open to the public.
