WAYNETOWN — A two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning involving a passenger car and a semi tractor-trailer on Interstate 74 sent two people to the hospital.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reported that at 11:18 a.m. deputies were dispatched to a crash with unknown injuries on Interstate 74 near the 26.5 mile-marker. Initial reports were that this crash involved a semi tractor-trailer and a passenger car.

Upon arrival, deputies determined that a 2016 Ford Fusion had been traveling westbound in the right lane of I-74, at a reduced speed due to a tire problem, when a 2018 Freightliner semi tractor-trailer, also westbound, struck the rear of the vehicle sending it off the roadway.

The driver of the Ford Fusion was identified as Jerazia L. Ellis, 21, of Jeffersonville. Ellis, and her front seat male passenger, were transported to an Indianapolis area hospital by Crawfordsville EMS. The driver of the semi was identified as Davon A. Grady, 27, of Indianapolis. Grady was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation. If you have any information regarding the crash, contact Deputy Scott Teal at 765-362-3740.

The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by Waynetown Town Marshal, Waynetown Volunteer Fire Department, Crawfordsville Police Department, Crawfordsville Fire Department, Indiana State Police, Montgomery County Emergency Management and Homeland Security, Indiana Department of Transportation and Wilson’s Towing.
