IHSAA anounces boys basketball sectional draw

With the high school boys’ basketball regular season coming to a close this week, the Indiana High School Athletic Association announced the draw for the 64 sectionals across Indiana. The tournament is scheduled to be played March 4-8.

Crawfordsville is the lone area team playing in 3A. The Athenians will participate in the Frankfort Sectional. Crawfordsville with play at 6 p.m. March 5 against Brebeuf Jesuit. Frankfort will open the sectional at 6 p.m. March 4 against Danville. The second game on March 5 will be Lebanon versus Guerin Catholic. Tri-West received the bye and will play the winner of Fankfort and Danville at 6 p.m. Friday.

Both North Montgomery and Southmont will play in the 2A sectionals.

The Mounties received a bye in the Greencastle Sectional. Southmont will play the winner of the March 4 game between South Putnam and South Vermillion in the second game on March 7.

The top bracket consists of Parke Heritage playing North Putnam with Greencastle playing the winner at 6 p.m. March 7.

North Montgomery will host its own sectional for the first time in several years. The Chargers will open the tournament at 6 p.m. versus Seeger. The winner will play Benton Central at 6 p.m. Friday.

The bottom bracket features the second game on March 4 between Delphi and Western Boone.

Renssalaer will battle the winner in the second game on March 7.

North Vermillion will host the local 1A sectional.

Covington and the host school will begin the tourney with a 6 p.m. March 4 followed Lafayette Central Catholic against Fountain Central.

On March 5 Riverton Park will play Attica at 6 p.m.

The first game on March 7 will see Faith Christan playing the winner of Covington and North Vermillion.

All sectional championship games will be played at 7 p.m. March 8.
