Irving Bressie of Crawfordsville passed away Monday morning, Jan. 30, 2023, at Franciscan Health Crawfordsville. He was 96.

Irving was a 50-year member of the Montgomery County Lodge #50, where he served as a Past Master. He was a 50-year member of York Rite as well as a Past Master. He was Past High Priest of Montgomery County Shrine and Past Patron of Eastern Star. He was also a member of Scottish Rite. He was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church for many years.

Irving worked 30 years with Conrail Railroad and had a life-long interest in trains. He served his country in the U.S. Navy.

Born March 2, 1926, at Wellington, Illinois, he was the son of Samuel Eston Bressie and Daisy Blanche Cauble Bressie. He graduated from Charlottesville High School in Charlottesville, Indiana, class of 1947. He married Mary Addison Bressie on Sept. 30, 1951, at Greenfield, Indiana. She passed away May 12, 2019.

Surviving family includes several cousins as well as family on Mary’s side, including a nephew, Tim Bird and two nieces, Annette Bird and Donna Frazier.

Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3 at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Ave. Services will begin at 3 p.m., with Eastern Star services, followed by Masonic Rites. After which, his funeral service will have Pastor David Boyd officiating. He will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery North.
