Ivis M. Pickell, 93, of Crawfordsville was reunited with her Lord and Savior on Feb. 25, 2025, at home.
She was born April 11, 1931, in Crawfordsville, to Walter and Anna (Gleason) Taylor. Ivis married Herschell Wayne Stonebraker. They later divorced. Ivis then married John Pickell, spending many loving years together until his passing in 1984.
Ivis attended Crawfordsville High School and worked as a nurse aid at Home Hospital, St. Elizabeth Hospital and Ben Hur Nursing Home. She was a clown at the nursing home and took her children to visit the residents. Ivis was an excellent musician, playing the zither and yodeling and singing. She was lovingly known as “Moped Grandma” as she rode her moped around town. She loved the Lord and going to church. Ivis’ strong Christian faith kept her surviving throughout her hardships in life and many were saved through her.
Ivis is survived by son Joe (Deborah) Stonebraker; grandchildren, Eric, Shannon, Michael, Christopher, Julie, Marisol, Miranda, Ivis Marie, Joe Jr. and Sara; 35 great-grandchildren; 33 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
