Jackie Lee Herron, 88, of Crawfordsville passed away Friday, April 18, 2025, at Franciscan Health Indianapolis.
He was born April 14, 1937 to the late Earl and Cora (Coon) Herron.
Jack graduated from Waynetown High School in 1955, where he played basketball, and attended Breaks School grades 1-5. He worked at RR Donnelley from 1956 until 1967 and then Dusty’s Shell Service from 1967 until 1973. Jack retired from Crawford Industries in 1999.
Jack married Edith Ingalsbe in 1958. He later married Carol Edwards in 1973. Jack loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed going on walks, driving through the country, and watching Westerns, Colts football, and Purdue basketball.
Jack was a member of the Waynetown Christian Church. He loved his church, and he loved God.
Jack is survived by his children, Kevin (Cathy) Herron of Springfield, Missouri, Kurt Herron of Old Hickory, Tennessee, Jill (Clay) Adams of New Market, Ralph (Cheryl) Edwards of Darlington and Amy Polly of Crawfordsville; brother William “Bill” Herron of South Bend; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Carol; brother Charles Herron; sisters, Ruby Ralston, Mary Abston, Helen Rutledge and Jane Whipple; and children, Doug Edwards, Liz Vannic, and Patti Wray.
A visitation will be held at Waynetown Christian Church, 101 W. Walnut St., Waynetown, on Wednesday, April 23 from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 1 p.m., with Clay Adams and Pastor Ray Dutcher officiating. Burial will follow at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in Jack’s name to Waynetown Christian Church, 101 W. Walnut Street, Waynetown, IN 47990.
