James Ernest Yeary, 74, of Alamo passed away March 5, 2021, peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones, after a long battle with cancer.
James was born Nov. 7, 1946, in Kentucky, son of Floyd and Geneva (Hendricks) Yeary.
James was a 1965 graduate of Turkey Run High School. He was a Vietnam veteran and served from 1965-1971 in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sargent.
James retired from Raybestos in Crawfordsville and after retirement he enjoyed gardening and wood working. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching sci-fi movies and spending time with his cat, Tabby.
James is survived by daughters, April Yeary (Chris Hayes) and Amy Cummins; six grandchildren, Travis Yeary, Sierra Cummins, Robert (Kayla) Yeary, Rebekah Hayes, Destiny (Anthony) Richie and Christopher Hayes; five great-grandchildren; sister Tina (Benny) Menchaca; and close friends he thought of as family, Angie (Greg) Burge, Samuel Burge, Meagan (Darrel) Newkirk, Michael Wurtsbaugh and Brigida Garcia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Lena (Michael) Payne; and an infant brother, Bobby Dale Yeary.
The family chose cremation with a celebration of life gathering 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 12 at the Alamo Fire Department. Friends and family are welcome to attend. Sanders Shoemaker Funeral Care in Waynetown entrusted with care.
