James “Loyd” Sherfey passed away June 26, 2021, at Gainesville, Florida.
He was born Oct. 27, 1927, in Montgomery County, to the late Harrison Porter and Loma Mae (Flowers) Sherfey. He married Martha (Lowe) Sherfey on June 17, 1945. She preceded him in death May 22, 2007.
Loyd was a veteran of the Army Air Corp.
Surviving are daughters, Marcia (Dale) Cheatham and Diane Hamm; sons, Jim Sherfey and John (Becky) Sherfey; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by daughter Beverly Cross; son David Sherfey; three sisters and four brothers.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 7 at Indian Hill Creek Cemetery.
