Janis “Jan” Faye Fletcher, 70, of Crawfordsville passed away Aug. 27, 2021, at Lane House Nursing Home.

She was the third of five children born to Raymond Victor and Georgia Mae (Wolven) Surber at Greencastle. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Dan.

She graduated from Roachdale High School in 1969 and Freed-Hardman University in 1971 with her associate’s degree. She married her husband, David Simpson Fletcher, on March 12, 1972.

She was a devout Christian, a member of the Englewood Drive Church of Christ in Crawfordsville. She was a loving stay-at-home mother to her five children. She later became the office manager for her husband’s chiropractic business, which she did for about 20 years. She was always a good listener, and more than willing to share her wisdom and advice.

She is survived by her husband, David of Crawfordsville; four sons, Michael (Amber) Fletcher of Lockhart, Texas, Russell Fletcher and Kevin Fletcher of Crawfordsville and Robert (Shamelle) Fletcher of San Antonio, Texas; and daughter, Rachel (Ryan) Clidienst of Spencer; as well as 11 grandchildren, Camryn, Cason, Callen, Caden, Jonah, Simon, Isaiah, Akeylah and Aniyah Fletcher and Caleb and Charity Clidienst; brothers, Timothy (Terry) Surber of Crawfordsville and David (Melanie) Surber of Nashville, Tennessee; sister Julie (the late Don) Dickman of Crawfordsville; sister-in-law Theresa (the late Dan) Surber; many nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A funeral service was held Thursday, Sept 2 and burial was Friday, Sept 3. Usher Funeral Home is honored to serve the Fletcher family.
