Jerry Ronald Miller, 86, of Crawfordsville passed away at 4:42 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2025, in Franciscan Health Lafayette East Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
He was born Dec. 13, 1938, in Crawfordsville, son of the late Dallas and Eva Cooksey Miller. He married Sharon Otterman on Nov. 3, 1967, in Crawfordsville. She survives.
Jerry was a graduate of Alamo High School and served with the Indiana National Guard. He retired from the Carpenter’s Union and then worked part-time for Harshbarger Farms in rural Crawfordsville. Jerry and Sharon raised horses and he was a member of the Professional Rodeo Association, competing in rodeos around the Midwest. He was an accomplished “calf roper” and “steer wrestler.” He loved his family and enjoyed watching auto racing, rodeos and sports.
He is survived by wife Sharon; son Ryan Miller of Crawfordsville; grandchildren, Damon (Abby) Miller of Terre Haute and Olivia Silverman of Connecticut; twin great-grandchildren, Iris and Onyx Miller; brothers, Frank Miller of Lawton, Oklahoma and Danny (Jill) Miller of Shelbyville; sister-in-law Jackie Otterman of Lebanon; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Rusty Miller.
Private family burial and service will be held at Liberty Chapel Cemetery. Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate is assisting Jerry’s family.
