Jill Ann Jeffries Melvin of Crawfordsville passed away Wednesday morning, July 28, 2021, at Majestic Care of Avon. She was 71.
Jill was a member of Woodland Heights Christian Church, where she taught Sunday School for more tha 30 years. She was treasurer of the women’s Lenten breakfast and went on several mission trips with the youth groups. She also served on the board of directors for New Beginnings Daycare.
Born Dec. 3, 1949, at Crawfordsville, she was the daughter of James Jeffries and Virginia Nelson Jeffries. She graduated from Greencastle High School in 1968. She was the postmaster at New Market, retiring in 2012.
Surviving family includes: daughter Misty Marie (Justin) McCombs of Crawfordsville; sister Cindy (Jerry) Calandrilla; brother Tom Jeffries; grandson Connor McCombs; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Jack; and daughter Heather Dawn DeLong.
Memorial visitation will be from noon to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Stone Creek Lodge. A service to remember Jill will begin at 3 p.m., with Pastor Tim Lueking officiating, followed by a procession to the Roachdale Cemetery. Burkhart Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
