Joe A. Warters, 84, of Crawfordsville, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville, with his family by his side.
Joe was born on July 16, 1940, in Sidell, Illinois, to Raymond T. and M. Gaynelle Warters. He graduated from Jamaica High School in 1958.
After moving to Indiana in 1960, he married Sue A. Reeves, Sept. 24, 1961, in Ladoga. He farmed in Montgomery and Parke counties until 1991, then operated a truck dispatch office until 2006.
Joe enjoyed antique tractors and farm equipment shows. He was a member of the Covered Bridge Antique Power Association in Rockville, the Central Illinois Green Club in Bonfield, Illinois and the Wabash Valley Steam & Gas Club in Covington.
Joe is survived by his wife, Sue; two daughters, Sandra (John) Henderson of Englewood, Florida and Deb (Mike) Corcoran of Crawfordsville; and two granddaughters, Erin Harper of Indianapolis and Charlee Caudill of Washington, D.C. Also surviving are his sisters, Martha Yek of Ottawa, Illinois, and Mary Coons of Ladoga as well as nine nieces and one nephew.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Dorothy (Bob) Brown; and brothers-in-law, Dave Yek and Max Coons.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24 at the Ladoga Cemetery. Servies & Morgan Funeral and Cremation Services 203 N. Washington Street Ladoga has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
