Joe Neil Sexton of Crawfordsville passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, June 23, 2022.
He was born Dec. 22, 1952, to the late Eugene and Zelma (Newberry) Sexton.
He is survived by children, Brandy Jo Sexton, Debra K. Sexton, Joe N. Sexton Jr. of Terre Haute, Paige (O’Connor) (Mike) Howell of Wingate, Joshua K. (Holly) Sexton of Crawfordsville; step-daughters, Brandy Johnson of Lafayette and Tara Barr, Crawfordsville; grandchildren, David Thompson, Cortez Thompson, Harmony Towels, Courtney Diel, Susanna Sexton, Ava Marshall, Aria Marshall and Ezra Howell; step-grandchildren, Raeven, Jaidyn, Aylee, Cloie, Alyssa, Gabby and XXavier; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, Katherine (Everett) (Steven) Arnold, Kristen (Sexton) (Marc) Ridge, Rachel (Everett) (Zack) Cleary; great-nephews, Reece Anglin, Harlan Ridge and Emery Ridge; and sisters, Norma Sexton , Columbus, Ohio, and Mary Etta (Rex) Everett of Crawfordsville.
Joe was a hard worker, who was proud of his roofing and welding skills. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle in all its glory, car mechanics and woodworking as well as being quite the chef over his open fire pit. He would give you the shirt off his back and “lived life like there was no tomorrow.” Always with a big heart he was up for the next Benefit Bike Run. In his last years his companion dog Cheeka was an important part of his life. Besides being proud of his family, loved by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, he was an awesome uncle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don Sexton and Harold Sexton; three infant siblings; and an infant, son Kenneth Eugene Sexton.
Joe will be laid to rest in New Richmond Cemetery and celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
