John Alan Kiger of rural Crawfordsville passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022, at home. He was 59.
Born Sept. 18, 1962, at Crawfordsville, he was the son of Marion Kiger and Carole Ingram Whitaker. He and Linda Kiger were married on Aug. 11, 1989. She passed away June 26, 2005.
Surviving family includes: son Kyle Kiger; sister Belinda Kiger; step-mother Rosemary Kiger; step-father Frank Whitaker; nephew Cary Brock; and niece Amy Shirar Malelo.
He was preceded in death by father Marion Kiger; mother Carole Ingram Whitaker; and sister Debbie Griffin.
John Alan was a graduate of North Montgomery High School and Ivy Tech Community College.
He was a paint and body specialist for many years, retiring from that job and going to work at Raybestos in Crawfordsville. He served his country in the Naval Air as a mechanic where he spent time in Japan. For several years he restored antique farm tractors.
There will not be a public visitation or service. There will be a graveside ceremony for family and friends at the Linden Cemetery at a later date.
