Juanita Rutledge of Crawfordsville passed away Tuesday afternoon Sept. 29, 2020, at Brownsburg Meadows. She was 91.

Mrs. Rutledge worked many years at Wabash College as a switchboard operator in the campus center and later at Coast to Coast, retiring from there. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Republican Women. She liked to read and crochet. For many years, she helped her husband, who was the local VA service officer, with activities in support of local veterans. Most of all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Born March 11, 1929, at Cerro Gordo, Illinois, she was the daughter of Walter James Cornwell and Ellen Amanda Hamilton Cornwell. She graduated from Cerro Gordo High School. She married Loran K. Rutledge on April 24, 1948, at Darlington. He passed away Oct. 2, 2007.

She is survived by her loving family, which includes: daughter Candy (Bob) Hodges of Crawfordsville; grandson Chad (Angela) Hodges of Brownsburg; granddaughter Cara (Jon) Livingston of Brownsburg; great-grandsons, Aiden Hodges and Ian Livingston; and great-granddaughter, Chloe Livingston.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Pierce Cornwell, and four sisters, Margueritte Yelensky, Betty C. Laughlin, Josephine Fleetwood and Maxine Shinniman.

Private family services will be held, after which she will be placed next to her husband at Oak Hill Cemetery North. Arrangements were entrusted to Burkhart Funeral Home.

Juanita adopted her cats from the local shelter and, with that in mind, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, please honor her with a donation to the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County, 1104 Big Four Arch Road, Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
