Saturday was JUMP’s annual banquet where mentors and mentees are recognized for being an important part of the mentoring program. They are the ones responsible for allowing this program to continue successfully supporting the youth and to make the future of our community a little brighter.

There were 40 attendees at the banquet for dinner and to be entertained by Daniel Lusk’s magic show “Blast Off to Magic.”

“Not only was the magic amazing and funny, but it also had a positive message surrounding issues in our world today,” said Jill Hampton, program director. “The adults and kids enjoyed the act equally.”

After the magic act, the mentors and mentees all received a certificate and a goody bag as a thank you for being part of the JUMP program. There were mentors that had been matched with their mentees for up to seven years and mentors that have only been matched for several months. The JUMP program is meant to give youth the added support and attention that is such an important part of healthy development. They also get a chance to experience new things and different ways of life so that they can see the world in a way they may not have had a chance otherwise.

There is always a need for volunteers in the JUMP program. Learn more by contacting Hampton by phone at 765-362-0694, ext.103, or email jill@mcysb.org.
