It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Karen Knowling Marks, who left us peacefully on April 20, 2025, at the age of 68.
Karen, originally from Crawfordsville, spent much of her life in Lafayette, where she was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend — known for her strength and kindness.
A proud graduate of North Montgomery High School, Class of 1975, Karen went on to build a life rooted in hard work, care for others, and devotion to her family.
She is survived by her husband, Jeff Marks; her loving mother, Nancy Knowling; and her children, Michael Trimble and Patrick Trimble (Cieara). She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Taylor and Scarlett; her siblings, Garry (Lynette), Mark (Ellen), Sarah Davis (Rick), Warren “Flip” (Jill) and Darrell (Susan).
She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Knowling.
Karen worked at Murdock Elementary School while also holding a position at Kohl’s. Her warmth, patience, and strong work ethic made a lasting impact on bother her colleagues and the community she served.
Karen will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved.
A private family service will be held in her honor.
