Keith Leroy Wilcox of Darlington passed away Thursday morning, Dec. 26, 2024, in his home, at the age of 88.
Mr. Wilcox worked with timber and logging, later becoming a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Operators-Engineers Union #103. He liked tractors, farming, cattle and fishing. He was baptized at the Garfield Christian Church and most recently attended Darlington Christian Church.
Born Nov. 24, 1936, at Clarks Hill, he was the son of William H. Wilcox and Freida Huddleston Wilcox. He graduated from Clarks Hill in 1955. He married Shirley Ann Lanum on May 5, 1956. She passed away May 29, 2009.
Surviving family includes: two daughters, Teresa Bowen (Ed) and Christi O’Brien (Gregory Allen); son Gerald Wilcox (Sharon); grandchildren, Stacey Hopwood (Kevin), Heather Bernier (Francis), Travis Bowen (Maricela), Tiffany Willis (Kyle), Brandon Ritter, Jarrod Wilcox (Camille), Kyle Wilcox and Adam Wilcox; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother Allen Wilcox; and sister Nancy White.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son Richie Wilcox; granddaughter Candy Winchester; and brother Bob Wilcox.
In keeping with his wishes, there will not be a visitation or funeral. There will be a public graveside service at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31 at Plainview Cemetery in Colfax, with Pastor Ron Brown officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to Burkhart Funeral Home.
Donations in memory of Keith Wilcox may be made to Southern Care Hospice or the American Diabetes Association.
