Kenneth “Hap” Rhodes, born Oct. 5, 1930, passed away Nov. 17, 2020, at the age of 90 years old at his home in Crawfordsville.

Hap was born to Kenneth and Lydia Rhodes at Veedersburg. He is survived by his brother, William (Marilyn) Rhodes of Kouts; and sister Glenda Moran of Lafayette.

Hap graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1948 and joined the Army soon after. He served four years with the 101st Airborne. He spent two years in the Korean War with the 8th Army Headquarters, serving in top secret documents.

Hap was married in 1962 to Billie Jo Carver. She preceded him in death in 2016.

Hap has three children, Kenneth “Pat” Rhodes and Kevin (Debra) Rhodes of Crawfordsville and Kelli (Mike) Leary of St. Petersburg, Florida. He has seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Hap worked for many years for the Indiana State Highway Department, and was manager of Fauber Construction in Crawfordsville. In 1985 he and his family started Rhodes Construction Corp. in Crawfordsville.

Hap was a member of many organizations and clubs, including Montgomery County Masonic Lodge, Montgomery County Shrine Club, Murat Shrine Club, the Scottish Rite, Lions Club, Eagles and Elks clubs. He was a life member of the American Legion, where his served as a past commander of the Covington American Legion and past vice president of the 6th District American Legion. He was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Per his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no visitation or services. His ashes will be laid to rest at Rockfield Cemetery in Veedersburg at a later date.
