Kenneth Wayne Gatlin, 60, of Covington passed away Friday, May 2, 2025, in La Fayette, Georgia. He was the life of the party and is now walking across the big stage singing, “Play that Funky Music.”

Kenneth was born in Shelby County, Tennessee on Feb. 6, 1965, to Louis and Sylvia (Martin) Gatlin. He attended Munford High School in Tennessee. Kenneth recently moved to Covington, where he purchased his dream piece of property and named it “Graceland.”

Kenneth was an entrepreneur in life. He owned and operated Gatlin’s BBQ and Jughead Bait Company. Kenneth was a passionate cook and was famous for his homemade BBQ sauce.

Kenneth founded the West Central Indiana Coyote Club and was Vice President of CWA Union. He enjoyed teaching Hunters Safety Education.

Kenneth loved nature, hunting and fishing. Kenneth holds two records for deer in Indiana. He enjoyed teaching and going catfishing with others, ensuring they caught their personal best. Kenneth was an avid Tennessee Football fan, Go Vols!

Kenneth will be deeply missed by his mom, Sylvia; his children, Micheal (Alyssa Eaglin) Gatlin, Dakota (Hali) Jessee and Taylor (Evan) Ratcliff; grandchildren, Stephen, Parker, Olive, Ava, Rayna and Montgomery Wayne; and his beloved dogs, Bugsy and Kane.

He was preceded in death by father Louis; son Stephen; aunt Brenda Petty; and uncle Bubba.

A visitation will be held for Kenneth at Harvest Fellowship, 1618 W. C.R. 500S, Crawfordsville, on Saturday, May 17 from 1 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 3 p.m. He will be brought back to “Graceland,” where he’ll be laid to rest.
