Kiwanis partners with Operation: Toy Box

Posted

In this year of COVID-19 so many more children in the community are wondering if that special present will be under the tree on Christmas morning. Well, this year the Crawfordsville Kiwanis Club has partnered with Operation: Toy Box, now in its 27th year of providing that “one new toy under the tree,” to ensure that children throughout Montgomery County will have that joy come Christmas morning.

In coordination with the Montgomery County Youth Service Bureau’s REINDEAR program they will furnish the names of eligible families to Operation: Toy Box so parents may come out and select toys prior to Christmas.

As in the past, soldiers from the Crawfordsville unit of the Indiana Army National Guard will be working with the Crawfordsville Kiwanis Club to ensure an exceptional delivery from the North Pole.

The goal of Operation: Toy Box is to ensure that as many children as possible wake up to at least one new toy under the tree on Christmas morning. With the pandemic hitting the community and wreaking havoc on the local economy it is expected that many more children will be in need this year.

Past sponsors of Operation: Toy Box, Gloria and Sergeant First Class (Ret) David Long working with the Delta Theta Tau Sorority, have encouraged the Crawfordsville Kiwanis Club to use their membership to help in this annual effort. The Longs have successfully worked with this program since its inception 27 years ago and will continue working with the Kiwanis Club. Stay tuned for further information as we get closer to Christmas.
