Lakeside Book Company is proud to recognize Kevin Everett as he celebrates an incredible career milestone — over 45 years of service.
Everett began his career in 1979 with RR Donnelley, now Lakeside Book Company, as a Material Handler, earning $4.35 an hour on the Line 6 Bindery Line. There, he worked on Reader’s Digest condensed books and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a Mail Bagger and Onlay Machine Operator. In 1989, he was promoted to Journeyman ABMO, operating the inline End-sheet Folder.
His commitment to craftsmanship and continuous improvement led to a move to Line 10 in 1998, followed by a promotion to Journeyman BMO on the newly installed Line 1 Bindery. He also served as a Relief Operator and Book Repairman, before moving to the Line 7 combo line as a Trimmer Operator.
Everett’s leadership and passion for mentoring emerged in 2001, when he became an instructor for the New Employee Training Program. A year later, he expanded his impact as a Bindery Subject Matter Expert for the Apprentice Program, and in 2006 became a Certified Instructor for the Troubleshooting Skills Class.
In 2009, Everett became the Bindery’s Quality Assurance Coordinator, while also serving as Bindery Safety Lead. His efforts were instrumental in the company earning its first IOSHA VPP 5-Year Star Site Certification in 2010. That same year, he became a Certified Adhesive Bind Lead Operator through the National Council for Print Industry Certifications.
In 2017, Everett spent a year back on the floor as a Binder/Trimmer Operator on the Casebound Line 2. In 2018, he was promoted to Manufacturing Supervisor, first in the Softcover Bindery, and now proudly leading the Casemaking & Stamping Department.
His commitment to Lakeside Book Company is part of a proud family tradition — his grandfather, Lester Everett Sr., graduated from the very first RRD Crawfordsville Apprentice Class in 1925. Many of Everett’s relatives have also worked at RRD/LBC over the years.
He and his wife Teresa will celebrate their 42nd wedding anniversary this June. They are proud parents to Adam (married to Sherri) and Logan (married to Jessie), and joyful grandparents to Olivia, Lincoln, Nora, Eden and Jude.
Outside the workplace, Everett enjoys life as an empty nester, spending time with family and grandchildren, pursuing drone photography, playing guitar, writing music, running half marathons, hiking, and, of course, golfing. He is a member of Rock Point Christian Church, serves as Worship Leader at Mace Community Church, and is active in both the Crawfordsville Country Club and Indiana Golf Association.
