Larry G. Thompson, 79, passed away peacefully Nov. 23, 2024, at home, in Crawfordsville.
He was born April 3, 1945, to Max and Anna Mae (Deck) Thompson.
Larry retired from Raybestos after 43 years as a journeyman maintenance mechanic. He belonged to Wallace Lodge 495 as a Master Mason, since 1984. Larry was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and loved his friends in Christ. He had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and would always be found reading his Bible or listening to sermons on the radio.
He also belonged to the National Rifle Association as a longtime member. Larry loved nature and wildlife, was often called the “animal whisperer,” as he had a knack of getting wild animals to trust him.
He never met a stranger and was always known for his smile, friendliness, giving and helping others.
Larry is survived by two daughters, Regina (Denny) Crady and Devona (Mark Cox) Blanton; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Seth, Blake, Brayden, Kyle, Brent and Ryan; eight great-grandchildren; brother Steve Thompson; and sister Sue Anne Black.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Laura Adams and Lindsay Thompson; and brother Danny Thompson.
Donations may be made in his memory to American Cancer Society or ALS Association.
Cremation was chosen with Sanders Funeral Care entrusted with care. A graveside service with close friends and family will be held at a later date at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Randall Glenn officiating.
