Larry Joe Mazur of Crawfordsville passed away Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2020, after reaching the age of 77 years old. He died peacefully at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, with his beloved wife Yumi by his side.

Larry was born Aug. 10, 1943, at Williamsport, to Juanita Anderson and Edward Mazur. He graduated from Kingman High School in 1961 and worked at the Kingman sawmill and Harrison Steel before beginning his 43-year career at RR Donnelley & Sons.

In 1964, Larry met the love of his life, Mitsuko “Yumi” Hisada, while serving his country as a proud Marine in Vietnam. Convinced that Yumi was the woman he was going to marry, he volunteered to serve multiple tours of duty just to get the chance to see her again while stationed in Okinawa.

Larry and Yumi were married in 1966 in Naha, Okinawa, and relocated to the United States in 1967. After serving his country in Vietnam, Larry resumed his employment at RR Donnelley & Sons in Crawfordsville.

Larry was an avid Elvis fan, a lifetime student of vehicular navigation, enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially IU basketball, enjoyed spending time with his family and performing as a freelance animalier artist.

Larry is survived by his wife, Mitsuko Mazur of Crawfordsville; children, Thomas (Debra) Mazur of Cary, Illinois, and Michael (Dona) Mazur of Georgetown, Texas; grandchildren, Kirsten and Joshua Mazur of Georgetown, Texas, and Caleb Mazur of Cary, Illinois; sister Mary Jo Doss of Kingman; brothers, Bill Corey of Crawfordsville and Ralph Corey of Crawfordsville; and a host of nieces, nephews and other beloved family and friends.

A private memorial service was held Thursday at Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, Indianapolis.
