November 2019 is an important election. Every four years our Indiana election calendar features local elections — city and towns. The League of Women Voters encourages all who live in a district with competition to participate in the November 2019 General Election. Voting is the most fundamental responsibility for citizens in our democracy.

In Montgomery County 21 citizens will have their names on the ballot. They are to be commended for offering to serve as an elected official.

In Crawfordsville, Mayor Todd D. Barton is running unopposed for reelection as is City Clerk-Treasurer Terri J. Gadd.

Four city council seats are also unopposed: Jeff Lucas, Ward 1; Scott Molin, Ward 2; Kent S. Priebe, Ward 3; and Jennifer Lowe, Ward 4. However, in Ward 5, Joyce Burnette (Democrat) is challenging Stan Hamilton (Republican). Three candidates are running for two at-large seats: Andy Biddle (Republican), Mike Reidy (Democrat) and Adam Hutchinson (Libertarian). There are also contests in both Darlington and Ladoga. These are: Kimberley “Kim” Carpenter (Republican), Marilyn S. Cohee (Independent), Ron P. Hatley (Republican), Nicole L.
