Lela Lofland, 92, of Crawfordsville passed away Monday, Dec. 21, 2020, at Whitlock Place.

She was born Nov. 28, 1928, at Robinson, Illinois, to Leslie and Flossie Butcher Clark. In 1947, she married John Lofland. He preceded her in death in 2018. 

Lela had worked at Western Union in Chicago and later Crawfordsville where she met John. She attended Purdue University and became a registered nurse working at Culver Hospital. 

She was a member of the First Christian Church, Eastern Star Athens Chapter 97 and the Daughters of American Revolution. She and her husband were avid campers and enjoyed traveling, and were members of the National Campers and Hikers Association.

Lela is survived by her children, John (Mary Ann) Lofland, David Lofland and Natalie (Gary) Newlon; three sisters, Hulah Odell, Mary Tindall and Lola Piersall; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law Carolyn (Dan) Chaney.

A private family service will be held, with a public celebration of life held at a later date. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, Eastern Star or Daughters of American Revolution.
