Eight current and former mentors with the Montgomery County Veterans’ Treatment Court released a letter announcing their support for Aaron Spolarich for Judge of Montgomery County Superior Court 2. The letter is signed by Mentor Coordinator Mike Spencer and mentors Gary Bell, Carl Binford, Tonto Bible, Marc Gabel, Bruce Van Iderstine, Tom Johnson and Peter Swanson.
The letter states that the mentors know Spolarich as a member of the Veterans’ Treatment Court Team and observed Spolarich preside over Veterans’ Treatment Court when the current judge was unavailable. It concludes that “Aaron Spolarich is the right choice to lead our Veterans’ Treatment Court as Judge. Aaron is professional, respectful of everyone in the courtroom, and fair.”
Spolarich has served as the Deputy Prosecuting Attorney assigned to Superior Court 2 since 2015. He has been part of the Montgomery County Veterans’ Treatment Court Team continuously since then. Spolarich says that the Veterans’ Treatment Court is the most important service Superior Court 2 offers to the community.
“The Veterans’ Treatment Court changes lives. I am privileged to be a part of the team. Our volunteer mentors are Veterans in our community – just like our participants. The connection they build with the participants is essential to the participants’ rehabilitation. I am humbled that these eight mentors place their trust in me to continue the success of the Court.
I was inspired to run for Judge in large part to continue the mission of the Veterans’ Treatment Court. I am the only candidate that is a current member of the team. That means I know our team, our mentors, and our participants. Our participants are familiar with me, and I know where they are in the treatment process. I know their successes, their failures, and their potential. There is a level of trust between the team, mentors, and participants that must be earned.”
