Letter: Frey hopes all citizens can work together

Posted

I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to Montgomery County voters, Clerk Karyn Douglas, the poll workers and all the other folks who made the election process run smoothly. COVID-19 made the traditional election process more difficult, but I could not be more impressed with how our community adapted to the challenges. I’d also like to offer my heartfelt gratitude and thanks to all the folks who supported me! We could not have done this without you and I am humbled by the trust that you have put in me.

You heard me say it many times throughout our campaign: The future of Montgomery County is brighter than ever. I ran for commissioner because I want to see our county be the best that we can be. In order to do this, we must all roll up our sleeves and work together for the things that are best for all citizens of Montgomery County. As an elected official, it is my duty to represent all people in Montgomery County, not just those folks who voted for me.

I heard from a lot of people during the campaign and it is clear that people have strong feelings about what they want to see happen in Montgomery County. While we all may not agree on everything, there is a lot more that unites us than divides us. To best serve our residents, over the next few months, I will begin a listening tour by hosting town halls in each community in our county. I want to hear what we are doing well, how we can improve and what the citizens believe needs to be done to continue moving Montgomery County forward.

In my first term as commissioner, I always strived to put our residents first and listen. As we move forward, I will continue to do that by putting even more emphasis on community engagement and dialogue. This will ensure that, as we move forward, all voices are heard and respected.

Commissioner John Frey
