Letter: Reader backs Petrie for judge

Posted

I am writing to encourage you to vote for Daniel Petrie for Judge of Montgomery County Superior Court. I believe Petrie is well qualified for this position.

I am so pleased that he chose to come back to Montgomery County after finishing law school to live, work, and raise his family and to share his considerable talents. I have found him to be Intelligent, well informed, considerate, discerning, fair, a good listener and witty. He is even fluent in Spanish.

In the time since he returned, Petrie has become well acquainted with the workings of the superior court. As a practicing attorney and as a public defender, he has represented a great number of clients who appeared before this court. He was a founding member of the Veterans Treatment Court which is a part of the Superior Court.

Petrie has become very familiar with the legal needs of youth. As a public defender for the past 10 years, he has worked with the Child in Need of Services program. That along with his collaboration with the Department of Child Services and his membership on the board of the Youth Service Bureau have given him insight into the needs of children and the services that might help them.

In addition to the work related to his profession, he has become involved in the community in many and diverse ways including Crawfordsville Main Street, Montgomery County Economic Development/Indiana West Advantage, Boys & Girls Club board, Bicycle and Pedestrian Citizen’s Advisory Committee, Crawfordsville Rotary Club and the Christian Nursing Service board. All of which lead me to believe Petrie will be looking out for what is best for Montgomery County and its citizens of all ages, abilities and economic status.

I urge you to vote for Petrie for judge.
