Letter: Reader believes boycotts needed to protect rights

Posted

Big tech, the liberal media like Apple, CNN, MSNBC, Google and Amazon, as well as the Democrat party are attempting to silence half the voting population in the United States.

We must protect First Amendment rights for all Americans before they are lost. Let’s financially boycott organizations that support leftist, socialist and revisionist politicians and organizations. As an example, PBS and NPR are heavily subsidized by U.S. taxpayers, however, they do not present anything positive where Republicans and conservatives are concerned. Tell our legislators not to support them until they provide balanced and factual content.

Internet browsers sell and monetize our search histories so change to one that does not, such as “DuckDuckGo” (PC-MAC and mobile devices).

Don’t buy groceries through Amazon, ask a friend, relative or church member to help you get what you need. Buy Pepsi instead of Coke, make your own coffee instead of Starbuck and find alternatives to Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, Netflix, Google, Disney, the NBA, Apple, the NFL, Nike, Goodyear and Gatorade to name a few. Let these companies know you do not agree with their political and social views and that you will continue to boycott them until they change their policies.

The New York Times and Associated Press reporting demonstrate that these companies directly or indirectly used Chinese Uyghur forced labor to produce their products. They are, Apple, Coca-Cola, Nike, Abercrombie & Fitch, Adidas, Gap, Calvin Klein, H&M, L.L. Bean, Lacoste, Nike, The North Face, Polo Ralph Lauren, Puma, Skechers, Tommy Hilfiger, Zara and Victoria’s Secret, as well as General Motors, Goertek, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagon.

Research before you spend. Money is power, so let us use that as one of our tools to protect our rights and values.
