Letter: Reader endorses Johnson for commissioner

Posted

It is my privilege to endorse April Johnson for the position of county commissioner. Johnson is more than qualified for this position. She is a strong Christian. She is honest and she does not lie.

Over the past few years Johnson has played a large part in fighting to keep Industrial Wind Turbines out of our county. These IWTs were a serious threat to the health and safety of our citizens. They would have also severely damaged the property values of our citizens. Many would have moved out of Montgomery County.

Johnson would have never voted in favor of Ordinance 2018-4, as commissioners did in 2018. This ordinance would have imposed zero property-line setback distances for non-participating property owners who lived on properties of more than five acres. And for churches and businesses of five acres or less, there would have been zero property-line setbacks, and zero setbacks from structures. This ordinance would have taken away the ability for residents to freely and safely enjoy their properties.

Today we now have county-wide zoning. Who knows what will be introduced next under this environment? We can trust April to work for the safety and wellbeing of all our citizens.

Johnson does not want to promote any self interest. She wants to properly manage our county, including our roads and other resources to make Montgomery County a great place to live. Let’s bring honesty, integrity and fiscal responsibility back to Montgomery County.
