Letter: Reader grateful for those who protect, serve

Posted

I want to say thank you to our local law enforcement, first responders, fire department, sheriff’s department, military, dispatch, medics and veterans for all that you have done for this community, state and country. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that without these people our community would not be safe and secure.

Needless to say, we all know that there is a select few who both out of their own lawless arrogance and rebellious attitude towards authority seem to think that we would be better off without these brave men and women. Some of us who have lived through events such as 9/11 remember very well the brave men and women in uniform who risked their lives to save those who were trapped in two burning trade towers.

Back in the late 80’s and through the 90’s there was an animation cartoon called Ghostbuster’s. The opening theme was titled, “Who You Going to Call? Ghostbusters!” I guess with Halloween coming around in the next few weeks this would be very fitting. However, we need to back the police, pray for them and treat them with respect. In all seriousness, think about it. What would we do without law enforcement? Where would we be without their service? How do you think we are able to live in freedom and prosperity? When your in trouble who are you going to call? Ghostbusters?
