MARION — Wabash scored eleven top-eight finishes with one individual champion to finish eighth out of 18 teams competing at the 120th Annual Indiana Little State Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University on Friday and Saturday.
Senior Brayden Curnutt won Friday evening’s 10,000-meter-run, finishing the race in 31:18.96 for a new personal-best effort.
Three Little Giants earned top-five finishes in the 800-meter run to score 18 team points. Will Neubauer raced to second place, finishing in a 1:52.87. David Adesanya finished in third place with a personal-best time of 1:53.22. Haiden Diemer-McKinney turned in a time of 1:53.41 to place fifth overall.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Owen Smith, Diemer-McKinney, Adesanya, and Neubauer combined for a time of 3:22.33 to finish in third place.
Lane Brockman finished in fifth place in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 49.69 meters (163 feet). William Boas earned seventh place with a personal-best throw of 47.85 meters (157 feet).
Nate Joven cleared 4.50 meters (14 feet, 9 inches) to capture sixth place in the pole vault with his career-best jump. Will Morris tied for eighth place by also topping out at 4.50 meters.
Sly Williams posted a top leap of 6.63 meters (21 feet, 9 inches) in the long jump to earn a sixth-place finish.
Jake Oostman scored a seventh-place finish in the javelin with a top throw of 45.36 meters (148 feet, 10 inches).
Wabash scored a total of 48.5 team points to earn the eighth-place finish. Indiana Tech won the team competition with 135 points.
