Little Giants returns to action at Mount St. Joseph

The Wabash College track and field team returned to action on Saturday after the holiday break, competing in the non-scoring Mount St. Joseph University Indoor Invitational. The Little Giants scored six first-place finishes overall.

Will Neubauer and David Adesanya finished 1-2 in the 800-meter run. Neubauer won the event with a time of 1:58.51. Adesanya captured second place by finishing in 1:58.56. Sawyer Lewis scored a fourth-place finish by posting a time of 2:06.32.

Brayden Curnutt raced to first place in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:30.98. Jacob Sitzman placed second by finishing in 9:12.99. Johnathan Loney added a fourth-place finish with a time of 9:18.17.

Angel Perez won the mile run with a top time of 4:34.62. Egan Williams took third place in 4:47.83.

Carter Leininger, Owen Smith, Jack Huisden, and Tanner Brooks combined to finish the 4x200-meter relay in 1:34.80 to score a win for Wabash in that event. Leininger also finished third in the 60-meter finals with a time of 7.05.

Morgyn Clark cleared 1.90 meters (6 feet, 2.75 inches) to win the high jump. Mike Holsclaw finished in second place at a height of 1.78 meters (5 feet, 10 inches). Clark also scored a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash by posting a time of 54.65.

Sly Williams scored a win in the long jump with a leap of 6.36 meters (20 feet, 10.5 inches).

Quinn Sholar picked up a pair of second-place finishes in the two throwing events. Sholar finished second in the shot put with his top mark of 15.26 meters (50 feet, 0.75 inches). Evan Furuness took third place with a mark of 14.15 meters (46 feet, 5.25 inches). Jakob Van Pelt added a fifth-place finish with his throw of 13.04 inches (42 feet, 9.5 inches).

Sholar produced a toss of 17.17 meters (56 feet, 4 inches) to finish second in the weight throw. Furuness scored a third-place finish with his throw of 15.07 meters (49 feet, 5.5 inches). William Boas placed fourth with a top mark of 14.64 meters (48 feet, 0-5 inches). Lane Brockman finished fifth overall with his 13.70-meter (44 feet, 11.5 inches) effort.

Hugh Ford placed third in the pole vault by clearing 3.50 meters (11 feet, 5.75 inches). Ryan Adams tied for fourth place after topping out at 3.35 meters (10 feet, 11.75 inches).

Wabash competes next Saturday at the I-55 Meet hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University.
