WOOSTER, Ohio — A five-goal deficit in the first period proved to be too much to overcome for the Wabash College lacrosse team in its final 2025 North Coast Athletic Conference contest. The Little Giants lost 12-6 at the College of Wooster on Saturday afternoon to finish the season 8-8 overall and 2-6 in the conference.
The eight victories this season equals the most in a single year by the Little Giants. Wabash finished with the most wins in conference play and earned its highest finish in the NCAC standings by tying for sixth place.
Wooster (9-7, 5-3 NCAC) scored five goals in the first period to take the early lead. The Fighting Scots added a sixth goal in the second period before Wabash answered with a goal by Charlie Rafalko off an assist by Quinn Fitzgerald. Jake Pippen added another goal for the Little Giants, but Wooster scored three more in the period to take a 9-2 lead at the break.
Eli Backus tallied his second goal of the year in the third period. Wabash picked up a pair of goals from Pippen and one more from Rafalko in response to three second-half goals by the Scots, but its was not enough to offset the first-half scoring in the si- goal loss.
Fitzgerald’s assist added one final point to his Wabash-record career mark. The senior finished with 193 career points in three seasons at Wabash and ranked second in goals scored (122) and assists (71). His 2.60 career goals-per-game average leads the Wabash career rankings, as does his 4.11 points-per-game mark.
Fellow senior Luka DiFilippo won 11 faceoffs and scooped up eight ground balls to finish his career as the program’s all-time leader in ground balls with 376. He ranks fourth in faceoff winning percentage at .526. Backus led the Little Giants’ defense with four caused turnovers, while goalkeeper Colin Krekeler recorded 14 saves. Christian Dybedock and Will Sorg joined Fitzgerald with assists on the scoring end for Wabash.
Wooster put up 41 total shots and 26 shots on goal while Wabash attempted 30 shots with 20 shots on goal.
