Lloyd Everett Hopkins (also endearingly known as Hop or Hoppy), 90, of Brownsburg peacefully passed away on Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, at home, with family.

Lloyd was born March 3,1931, to Raymond Leslie and Lottie Edith (Page) Hopkins, at his parent’s farmhouse in Barnard, Indiana. He loved growing up on the farm along with his older brother, Marion Hopkins (Carolyn) who resides in Maine. He helped with farm chores and enjoyed playing basketball. He graduated from North Salem High School in 1948. At age 17, he began working at Plastene Corporation and in those early years during slow periods he sold Bibles door-to-door. He continued to work for Plastene for more than 45 years in various positions. Upon retirement he worked part-time for several years at Schloot Furniture for social engagement rather than a paycheck.

On Dec. 12, 1966, he married the love of his life, Betty Ann Pruett Adkins, she survives. They built a life and united a family together in Crawfordsville. He is survived by four children, a son, Kerry Joseph Hopkins (Cindy Stephens) and daughter, Pamela Joy Stevenson (Jack), both from a previous marriage. Together with daughters, Lana Michelle Ebaugh (Mike) and Elizabeth (Beth) Annette Hopkins (Jeffery Bartelson), he has 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren!

He lived a blessed life and was a pillar of Godly strength for our family. He was a loving husband, devoted father, grandpa and great grandpa, brother, favored Uncle and friend to every single person he met.

He taught us to purchase what you need, but not everything you want and consistently referenced Philippians 4:19, And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. He will be remembered by his giving spirit, infectious smile, love of Jesus, integrity, joy, abundant wit and sense of humor. He loved automobiles and enjoyed several throughout his lifetime. He had a passion to travel and made it to all states with the exception of Alaska. He enjoyed making and eating homemade ice cream for family and challenging his grandkids to eating competitions. His main priority was always family and discipling others to know Jesus as their personal Savior. He was a member of Connection Pointe Christian Church, Brownsburg, IN and founding member of New Hope Christian Church, Crawfordsville.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by, his great grandchild, Holden David High.

Friends and family will gather Tuesday, Aug. 10 from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. at Connection Pointe Christian Church in Brownsburg. Following the service, Lloyd will be laid to rest in the Roachdale Cemetery.
