Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, area spring athletes were not able to compete for conference and all-state selections based on performance, but that didn’t stop them from being recognized for their efforts in the classroom.
Crawfordsville seniors Abby Bannon and Lauren Kellerman were named to the academic all-state team, while fellow senior teammate Sierra Hutchison earned honorable mention. Fountain Central’s Alexis Van Hook was also on the honorable mention team.
In baseball, North Montgomery’s Kade Kobel earned academic all-state honors, while fellow Charger Sierrah Chapman was named to the academic all-state tennis team.
A number of area track and field athletes were honored, including North Montgomery’s Sidney Campbell who was named to the academic all-state team, along with Southmont’s Tyler Etcheson, Cameron Giles, and Kaleb Sixberry. Fellow Mounties Mia Myers, Takeshi Greiner, and Ty Welliever were named to the honorable mention team long with North Montgomery’s Ben Lovold and Grace McClaskey.
