There are 22 officials from the Western Indiana Officials Association that will work IHSAA Boys Basketball Sectional tournaments this week, including seven from Montgomery County. Bryce Barton and Terry Baker will work at Carmel, Aaron Selby at Twin Lakes, Darren Haas at Lebanon, Kevin Kirsch at Tri-County, and Steve Hoffman and Chad Hodges at Attica.
“There are 396 officials selected to work the sectional round, so we’ve got 10% of those people out of our association, which just speaks volumes to what our guys do,” WIOA President Mark Maxwell said.
Maxwell sends a reminder that just like the coaches and athletes, the games would not go on without the officials — and applauds the local association for how they’ve handled COVID-19 protocols this season.
“Terry Baker and Mike Harlow, who are our sports chairs, have done a great job in making sure we all follow the right protocols and we try to set the standard when we go to these schools when it comes to what we have to do,” Maxwell added.
