Mounties tankers earn wins

The Southmont boys’ and girls’ swimming and diving teams took on North Vermillion and North Putnam on Tuesday night. The Mounties defeated the Falcons 90-9 and the Cougars 68-33 on the girls side, and beat North Vermillion 81-10, while falling to North Putnam 49.5-48.5 on the boys side.

On the girls side, the foursome of Megan Scheidler, Bailey Barker, Suzi Pedro, and Jane Scheidler won the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:09.28. Jane Scheidler, Barker, Aubrey Jones, and Emma Tyler teamed up for the win in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:53.09, while Tyler, Jones, Megan Scheidler, and Pedro won the 400 freestyle relay in a time of 4:18.1.

Individual winners included Cassidy Bowlin in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:55.22, and Tyler in the 50 freestyle in 26.37 seconds. Jane Scheidler won the 100 butterfly in 1:09.89, while Pedro won the 100 freestyle in 1:02.78. Megan Scheidler also won the 100 backstroke in 1:09.46, while Jordan Stanley won the diving portion with a mark of 221.3.

On the boys side, the foursome of John Zimmerman, Logan Harman, Trent Jones, and Karter Blankenship won the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:59.24, while the group of Blankenship, Zimmerman, John Servies, and Gavin Waddell won the 400 freestyle relay in 4:08.44.

Individually, Trent Jones won the 50 freestyle in 24.72 seconds, and the 100 butterfly in 59.79 seconds. Waddell swam to a first place finish in the 500 freestyle in 5:55.92, while Zimmerman won the 100 backstroke in 1:03.58, and Harman won the 100 breaststroke in 1:20.05.

Chargers fall to Hot Dogs

North Montgomery’s boys’ and girls’ swimming and diving teams both fell to Frankfort on Tuesday. The boys fell to the Hot Dogs 108-63, while the girls lost 104-71.

Individual winners on the girls side included Sidney Campbell in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.85 seconds, and Maggie Michael in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:01.51. Rachel Fedor also won the 500 freestyle in a time of 7:00.22. Campbell won the 100 backstroke in 1:08.97.

Individual winners on the boys side include Ben Eldridge, who won the 50 freestyle with a time of 29.12, and Jamason Burget, who won the 100 butterfly in 1:09.94. Kaden Ervin won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:15.72.

Athenians sweep Stars

The Crawfordsville boys’ and girls’ swimming and diving teams swept Sagamore Conference foe Western Boone on Tuesday night. The Athenians won the boys meet 135-37 over the Stars, while the girls were victorious 100-70.

Individual winners on the girls side included Alyx Bannon, who swam to a first place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:16.53. Abby Bannon won the 200 individual medley in 2:43.09, while Halle Smith won the 50 freestyle in 29.12 seconds. Alyx Bannon also won the 100 freestyle in 59.32 seconds, while Cathleen McGrady swam to a first place finish in the 500 freestyle in a time of 6:41.92. Abby Bannon also won the 100 breaststroke in 1:19.49.

The foursome of Ashley Reagan, Smith, and both Alyx and Abby Bannon won the 400 freestyle in a time of 4:33.30.

On the boys side, the team of Evan Chaney, Marshall Horton, Thristan Callejas, and Jack Pendleton won the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:48.15, while Horton, Pendleton, Cole Hudson, and Hunter Conrad won the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 1:39.88. Hudson, Chaney, Callejas, and Ben Brown took home first in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:53.00

Individual winners for the Athenians included Callejas in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:57.1, and Chaney in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:17.27. Pendleton won the 50 freestyle in 23.65 seconds, while Callejas also won the 100 butterfly in 57.81. Aidan Mason won the 500 freestyle in a time of 6:08.27, while Horton won the 100 backstroke in 1:06.54. Eli Reeves won the diving portion with a mark of 171.5.

Mounties open wrestling season with a win

The Southmont wrestling team opened the season with a 61-15 win over Covington on Tuesday.

Kion Cornelius won by fall at 106 pounds over Gage Pearman, while Ashtin Pickett won by fall over Austin Wallace at 145, and Ty Welliever pinned Alex Black at 170. Riley Woodall also won by fall at 182 over Austin Croucher. Clayton Downey (106), Gerald Hutson (126), Dillan Lauy (132), and Zayden Dunn (220) both won by forfeit.

Noah Benge picked up a 7-1 decision over Emmett Reynolds at 120, while Isaiah McMasters picked up a major decision victory 12-3 over Brydan Gaskill at 160.

The Mounties are back in action on Saturday at the Western Boone duals.

Mustangs fall on road

The Fountain Central girls' basketball team fell 49-40 at Delphi on Tuesday night. Dakota Borman scored a career-high 25 points in the loss.
