LOCAL ROUNDUP: Athenian volleyball 2-1 on Saturday

Athenian volleyball 2-1 at Invite

The Crawfordsville volleyball team posted a 2-1 record over the weekend.

The Athenians beat Clinton Central 25-12, 25-16 and Logansport 25-15, 25-14, and fell to Heritage Christian 27-25, 14-25, 15-12.

Macy Bruton had 41 kills, 21 digs, and four aces, while Laine Schlicher had 75 assists and three aces. Hallie Gayler had 16 kills and two blocks, while Alyx Bannon had three aces, three kills and four blocks.

Halle Elliott had 11 digs, Olivia Reed 12 digs, Taedyn Cook four kills and Liddy McCarty a kill. Shea Williamson had 12 kills and nine digs.


Chargers swept by Warriors

The North Montgomery volleyball team was swept 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-14) by Sagamore Conference foe Danville on Saturday.

Chargers fall to Trojans

The North Montgomery girls’ soccer team fell to Covington 2-1 on Saturday.

Teegan Bacon scored a goal on an assist from Courtney Engels.

Athenians compete at Golden Bear Invite

The Crawfordsville cross country teams competed at the Golden Bear Invite on Saturday.

In the boys’ race Ryan Miller placed ninth with a time of 17:07, while Max Brumett was 46th in 18:49, and Tyson Fuller 51st in 18:56. Ian Hensley was 59th in 19:09 and Arthur Ruano 60th in 19:10. Roman Contreras placed 64th in 19:18 and Hutton Haas 65th in 19:18. Jackson Walters was 88th in 20:36.

In the girls’ race Sophia Melevage was sevent hin 20:12, Elyse Widmer 46th in 22:34, and Shelby Greene 47th in 22:37. Olivia Biddle was 52nd in 22:51, Karla Fernandez 62nd in 23:13, and Skylah Strawser 70th in 23:42. Gabby Warren placed 79th in 24:26.

Kler 4th at BC Invite

Fountain Central’s Hayden Kler was fourth at the Bison Stampede Cross Country meet on Saturday with a time of 17:28. Nathan Solomon finished in 20:01, Riley Nelson in 20:48, and aden Dahl in 28:35. In the girls’ race, Brailey Hoagland was seventh in 20:46, while Hadlee McBride finished with a time of 23:30, Courtney Sims in 24:22 and Alydia Mellady in 26 minutes.

Senior Golf Results

The team of Steve House, Gary Duncan, Gary Enquest, and Terry Reed won the weekly men’s senior golf scramble at the Crawfordsville Municipal Golf Course on Friday with a score of (-11) under par. Alan Froedge, Jay Fuima, John Lewis, and Mike Dozier were second at (-10) under par.

Mike Dozier won the proxy on No. 9 and Bruce Dennison on No. 17. Ed Bayless won the long drive.
