Mustangs beat Patriots

The Fountain Central baseball team scored three runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings to erase a 3-1 deficit and defeat Wabash River Conference foe Seeger 7-3 on Thursday night.

Brayden Prickett, CJ Yager, Luke Foxworthy, and Owen Acton each had two hits for the Mustangs in the win.

Mustangs fall to Seeger

Fountain Central softball fell at home against Seeger Thursday night 20-0. Chloe Golia and Maddie Medley had the two lone hits for the Mustangs. 

In the loss the Mustangs committed eight errors.

Chargers swept in baseball and softball DH

The North Montgomery softball team was swept in a double-header at Danville. 

The Chargers were outscored 30-1 in the two games. Makinze Rominger tallied three total hits in the two games. 

The North Montgomery baseball team was also swept in a double-header at Danville, losing 6-0 and 10-0.

The Chargers had just three total hits, from Jakob Kirsch, Jacob Braun, and Ross Dyson. 

Tennis

Mounties pick up win against Wolves

Southmont Tennis notched a 3-2 win over Parke Heritage Thursday evening. Mallory Murphy was victorious at one singles, picking up a 7-5, 6-1 win. Hanna Long secured a 6-1, 6-1 win at two singles, and Marley Jones earned a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win. 

The tandem of Megan Scheidler and Bailey Barker fell at one doubles 1-6, 1-6. Dori Frederick and Madison Murphy were defeated 6-4, 2-6, 3-6. 

Chargers swept by Tigers

North Montgomery tennis was swept on Thursday night against Sagamore Conference opponent Lebanon 5-0. 

Mustangs lose to Tiger Cubs

The Fountain Central softball team dropped a non-conference match 4-1 to Greencastle on Thursday.

The No. 1 doubles team of Paige Scheurcih and Emily Jimenez picked up the lone win for the Mustangs, defeating Faith Hartman and Allison Fajt 6-2, 2-1 (retired).

Tyler Bowling and Marylee Muniz lost 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles to Caroline Gooch and Sophie Riggle. At No. 1 singles Lillie Fishero fell 6-2, 6-0 to Molly Ramey, while Haley Webb lost 6-3, 5-7, 10-5 at No. 2 singles to Maddie Landry, and Angela Gonzalez lost to Ally Schimpf 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 3 slot. 

Track and Field

Mounties sweep tri-meet

The Southmont track and field teams swept Tri-West and Horizon Christian on Thursday evening. The Mounties (99) defeated Tri-West (33) and HC (12) on the girls side, and the Mounties (111), Tri-West (37), and HC (12) on the boys side.

On the girls side, the foursome of Saylor Woods, Brianna Heninger, Abigail Korhorn and Olivia Gray won the 4X100 meter relay with a time of 1:05.28, while Shelby Chieppo, Emma Phillips, Addison Charles, and DeLorean Mason won the 4X400 meter relay with a time of 4:59.84.

In the field, Heninger won the pole vault with a mark of 6-foot-6-inches, Korhorn won the long jump with a mark of 13-feet-9-inches, Faith Allen won the high jump with a mark of 4-feet-4-inches, while Charles won the shot put with a throw of 27-feet-3-inches.

Allen also won the two-mile run with a time of 13:44 and the mile run in 6:00.9. Woods won the 100 meter hurdles in 19.28 seconds and the 300 meter hurdles in 1:00, while Korhorn won the 200 meter dash with a time of 30.28 seconds, and Mason won the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:05.28.

On the boys’ side, the foursome of Logan Phillips, Skyler Wood, Mason Cass, and Marlin Williams won the 4X800 meter relay with a time of 9:51, while Sam Line, Avery Saunders, Gabe Androusky, and Kyler McCandless won the 4X100 meter relay in 47.59 seconds. Dillan Lauy, Logan Oppy, Line, and Trent Jones won the 4X400 meter relay with a time of 3:41.

In the field, Oppy won the discus with a throw of 109-feet-9-inches, while Jones won the long jump with a leap of 20-feet-1-inch. Lauy won the pole vault with a mark of 12-feet.

Cass also won the two-mile in 11:22, while Oppy won the one-mile run in 5:05. Lauy won the 100 meter dash in 11.5 seconds, while Jones won the 400 meter dash in 52 seconds and the 200 meter dash in 21.87 seconds, and Phillips won the 800 meter run in 2:18. 

Athenians sweep Cougars

Crawfordsville track and field swept North Putnam on Thursday night.

The Athenians won the boys’ side 89-42, while the girls’ won 75-52.

On the boys’ side, the 4X800 meter relay of Tyeson Fuller, Ian Hensley, Hunter Hutchison, and Ryan Miller won with a time of 9:24, Kaigen Fields, Fuller, Ty Lynas, and Ziair Morgan won the 4X100 meter relay in 46.71 seconds.

In the field, Nate Schroeter won the shot put with a throw of 37-feet-9-inches and the discus with a mark of 121-feet-9-inches. Lynas won the high jump with a leap of 5-feet-8-inches, while Nathaniel Million wo the pole vault at 9-feet.

Lynas also won the 110 meter hurdles in 16.14 seconds, while Willis won the 100 meter dash in 12 seconds, Hensley won the one-mile run in 5:07.88. Hutchison won the 800 meter run in 2:01.76 and Miller the two-mile in 10:37.97.

On the girls’ side, the foursome of Olivia Biddle, Karla Fernandez, Shelby Greene, and Halle Smith won the 4X800 meter relay with a time of 12:14.33, while Fernandez, Skylah Strawser, Elyse Widmer and Shea Williamson won the 4X400 meter relay in 4:53.

In the field,  Marian Esquivel won the shot put with a thorw of 24-feet-2-inches, and the discus with a mark of 67-feet-5.5-inches. Williamson won the long jump with a leap of 14-feet-10.5-inches. Kristen Thompson won the pole vault with a mark of 6-feet.

Ellie Hutchison won the 100 meter hurdles in 19.47 seconds, while Williamson won the 100 meter dash in 13.41 seconds. Widmer won the 800 meter run with a itme of 2:56.98 and Smith won the two-mile with a time of 13:16.21.
