Athenians split on the links

The Crawfordsville girls’ golf team split with Parke Heritage and Attica on Monday night at Rockville.

The Athenians fired a 230, Red Ramblers a 212 and Wolves a 245.

Sadie Walker and Carli Payne led the Athenians with a pair of 55s, while McKenzie Wilson and Christen Saunders each shot 60 and Nancy Blanchard a 69.

Chargers beat Tiger Cubs

The North Montgomery girls’ golf team defeated Greencastle 195-216 at Rocky Ridge on Monday night.

Grace Littell was the medalist with a 45, while Morgan Swick shot a 47, Grace Shrader a 51 and Ella Stultz a 52. Maggie Yeager fied a 55, Shayna Ratcliff a 61 and Rylie Koopman a 69.

VOLLEYBALL

Athenians sweep Blackhawks

Crawfordsville volleyball won its season opener 3-0 (25-3, 25-17, 25-6) at Sheridan on Monday night.

Macy Bruton led the Athenians with 13 kills, seven aces, and three digs, while Shea Williamson had nine aces, five digs, and a kill and Laine Schlicher had 17 assists and two digs. Alyx Bannon added five aces, two kills and a dig. 

Mustangs swept by South Newton

Fountain Central was swept 3-0 by South Newton in its volleyball season opener on Monday night.

Hayleigh Elkins led the Mustangs with 11 digs, while Jerzi Hershberger added seven digs.
