Chargers go 2-1 at invite

The North Montgomery girls’ tennis team hosted the Charger Invite on Saturday and posted a 2-1 record.

The Chargers beat Seeger 3-2 and Danville 4-1, while falling to Covington 4-1.

Carlie DeSmet went 3-0 on the day at No. 3 singles. Kaitlyn Greenlee and Sydnee Turner posted 1-2 records at No. 1 and No. 2 singles respectively.

Joy David and Allison Guard went 2-1 at No. 1 doubles, while Courtney Engels and Paige Hudson went 1-2 at the No. 2 position.

Athenians, Chargers, Mustangs compete at Covington Invite

Crawfordsville and North Montgomery boys’ golf competed at the Covington Invite on Saturday. The Athenians fired a 375, tying for first with Parke Heritage. Crawfordsville finished second due to the fifth score tiebreaker.

Luke Ranard fired an 83 to lead the Athenians. His score was tied for second best.

Landon Timmons fired an 87, Braxton Smith a 96, Landon Hurt a 109 and Hayden Jeffries a 117.

“Two years ago our goal was to not finish last,” Crawfordsville coach Tom Perkins said. “Now we’re challenging for the win. We’ve come a long way, still with a bunch of room for improvement.”

Fountain Central fired a 399 to finish sixth.

Wesley Jackson led the Mustangs with a 95, Jacob Keeling shot a 98? And Cody Linville a 102. Matt York fired a 104 and Nathan Summers a 106.

North Montgomery shot a season-best 407.

Hayden Turner led the Chargers with a 90, while Haze Kashon fired a 101, Alex Chapman a 102, Drew Norman a 113 and Thomas Fritzen a 126.

Mounties place 3rd at Tiger Cub Invite

The Southmont boys’ golf team placed third at the Greencastle golf invitational on Saturday.

The Mounties fired a 352, behind Northview (334) and Greencastle (352).

Nolan Allen led the Mounties with an 86 and was tied for the third best individual overall score. Harrison Haddock fired a 91 and Micah Korhorn a 95.

Luke Tesmer shot a 99 and Carson McKinney a 104.

Southmont is now 17-2.

Mustangs split with Cougars

The Fountain Central baseball team split a doubleheader with North Putnam on Saturday.

The Mustangs beat the Cougars 5-4 and fell 7-3.

Owen Acton had three hits on the day to lead the Mustangs.
