Mustangs sweep Falcons

The Fountain Central baseball team swept North Vermillion on Saturday — defeating the Falcons 14-1 and 11-1.

AJ Hall had three hits on the day, while Kyle Slinker, Zach Guerin, Nic Swenson, Michael Geller, and Colton Robinson each had two hits.

Mustangs split with Falcons

The Fountain Central softball team split a pair of Wabash River Conference games with North Vermillion on Saturday.

The Mustangs defeated the Falcons 10-9 and fell 12-3.

Maddie Medley hit a walk-off triple to seal the 10-9 win for the Mustangs. Medley was a perfect 5-for-5 in the win.

Jerzi Hershberger and Kendal Rahm, and Kacy Kirkpatricl each had three hits on the day.

Athenians fall twice at invite

The Crawfordsville softball team suffered a pair of losses on Saturday at the Beech Grove Invite. The Athenians fell 11-1 to Eastrbrook and 16-0 to Beech Grove.

Olivia Reed and Halle Elliott each had a pair of hits on the day.

Athenians finish 9th at Danville invite

The Crawfordsville boys’ golf team placed ninth out of 21 teams at the Danville Invitational at Twin Bridges Golf Course on Saturday.

Led by Luke Ranard’s 83, the Athenians fired a 361. Hamilton Southeastern fired a 300 to win the tournament.

Landon Timmons shot an 87, Hayden Jeffries a 93, Braxton Smith a 98 and Landon Hurt a 102 for the Athenians.

“The guys battled hard today in difficult course conditions,” Crawfordsville golf coach Tom Perkins said. “The greens were cut short and pin placements were challenging. Still things to clean up, but we’re heading in the right direction.”
