Mounties compete at state course

Southmont’s cross country team competed at the LaVern Gibson Championship course in Terre Haute, where freshman Faith Allen led the Mounties with a 16th place finish out of 83 runners.

Chargers and Mounties pick up wins on pitch

The North Montgomery soccer teams were in action at South Vermillion on Saturday.

The girl’s were victorious 10-0 over the Wildcats. Sidney Campbell, Teegan Bacon, and Lydia Dugard each had three goals. Campbell and Dugard each has two assists. Nina Gable scored a goal and had an assist, while Courtney Engels and Maggie Michael contributed an assist.

The boys fell 2-1, with a lone goal scored by Baydin Hall.

Crawfordsville’s boys soccer team traveled to Frankfort and split a pair of games at the Hot Dog Invitational. The Athenians defeated Rossville 4-0, before falling 1-0 to Frankfort in the championship.

At Rensselaer Central, the Athenian’s girls team dropped a match 3-0.

Southmont’s boy’s soccer team found the win column for the first time this season with a 4-0 win over Indiana Math and Science on Saturday. Beckett Jett led the way with three goals.

Chargers compete on courts

North Montgomery’s boy’s tennis team traveled to Lawrence Central for an invite on Saturday. 

The Chargers dropped a pair of matches to Decatur Central and Lawrence Central.

Against Decatur Central, Jakob Kirsch fell at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-0 to Charlie Tran, while Carter Livingston lost 6-0, 6-0 to Seth Fitzpatrick at No. 2 singles, and Brooks Walters lost 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles to Connor Martin. At No. 1 doubles the duo of Hunter Kashon and Will McKinnis fell to Miles Webb and Owen Wohlert 6-4, 6-2. At No. 2 doubles Haze Kashon and Ben Eldridge fell to Nolan Spivey and Justin Wright 6-1, 6-0.

Against Lawrence Central, Kirsch lost 6-2, 6-1 to Gage Riley, while Livingston lost 6-2, 6-0 to Charlie Hawk. Walters fell to Aiden McMonagle 6-1, 6-1, Kashon and McKinnis lost to Anthony Steinhardt  and Avery Hoppes 6-4, 6-0, while Kashon and Eldridge lost 6-0, 6-0 to Joel Simon and Bennett Lukens.

Thompson leads Mounties in historic round

Bailey Thompson shot a career-best 81 at the Western Boone invitational on Saturday to lead Southmont to a 4th out of 18 teams finish and a school record score of 344. Thompson was sixth overall out of 90 golfers. 

Carson White fired an 85, Logan Berrisford and Lexi Rusk an 89, while Macie Shirk shot a 99.

The Athenians shot a season-best 395 led by Bailey Mittal’s 95. Georgia Kincaid’s 96, Evie Redding’s 97, Gwen Redding’s 107, and Sadie Walker’s 121 were all personal bests.

Fountain Central fired a 498 led by Cassadi Park’s season-best sore of 115.

Athenians and Chargers netters in action

Crawfordsville and North Montgomery volleyball was in action on Saturday.

The Athenians competed at the North Putnam Invite on Saturday, defeating Attica and falling narrowly to North Putnam and Mooresville.

North Montgomery fell to Logansport 26-24, 25-19, defeated Lafayette Jeff 25-22, 34-32, and lost to Seeger 25-18, 25-4, and West Lafayette 25-15, 25-8. Haley Burton led the Chargers with four digs in the win over Lafayette Jeff, while Gracie Chapman had 10 assists.
